Fines /Costs
Fines:
Each fine is determined by the Court. The state sets a minimum and maximum amount of fine. The Court must set the fine within these limits.
The maximum fine on traffic violations is $200, class "C" misdemeanor violations is $500 and city ordinance violations can be up to $2,000 depending on the charge except with subsequent offenses, tickets for "Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility" or charges occurring in a construction zone with workers present.
Court Costs:
The State of Texas sets court costs for each type of violation. These costs could be as low as $8.00 to as much as $200 per charge.
Time-Payment Fee:
State law requires the Court to add a $25.00 fee to each case if you elect to take more than 31 days to pay your fine and court costs.
Warrant Fee:
State law sets the warrant fee at $50.00 per warrant.
