Economic Development Corporation
The Bellmead Economic Development Corporation is
funded by a one-quarter (1/4) cent type B tax referendum under the Development Corporation Act of 1979. The Bellmead Economic Development Corporation exists to serve the Bellmead community. This is accomplished by assisting, stimulating and enhancing community and economic development in Bellmead, Texas, subject to applicable State and Federal laws and the Bylaws and the Articles of Incorporation. The sales tax revenues are utilized to increase job opportunities available to the citizens of Bellmead by assisting in the retention and expansion of local business and industry and the attraction of new businesses to Bellmead and McLennan County.
The city of Bellmead is centrally located on Interstate 35 on the Northern border of Waco between Temple and Austin to the South and Dallas and Fort Worth to the North. We have a diverse workforce trained by McLennan Community College, Texas State Technical College, and Baylor University which all surround the City of Bellmead. Programs are available to cater specialized training through these higher learning facilities to train employees to meet the special needs of local businesses. This fact combined with the areas low cost of living and low labor costs, and exceptionally low city property tax rate of 0.26 makes this an attractive place to locate.
