"Taking Pen in Hand": The Importance of the Written Word to Living History
Designed to provide guidelines for reenactors to help their writing bring family history to life, to create historical fiction and Civil War poetry, and to develop the reenactor's living history persona.
This workshop will be taught by southern writer, Professor Rickey E. Pittman who is no stranger to Civil War reenacting. He was the Grand Prize Winner of the 1998 Ernest Hemingway Short Story Competition, and is on the Louisiana Roster of Artists working closely with art councils. He was commissioned to write historical plays in addition to his freelance journalism, editing, and nonfiction writing. He has published short stories, poetry, plays, novels, children books and teaches college English in Louisiana. www.rickeypittman.com
