Councilman Kevin Wilson

Kevin attended high school in Copperas Cove, Texas and graduated in 1983. He started college that fall at Central Texas College at the age of 17. He graduated as a Certified Computer Operator and later went back to finish a two year associates degree. He joined the Army in 1987 where he proudly served our nation until 1992. His military service saw several trips overseas including a trip to Germany and a tour in Saudi Arabia and Iraq for the Desert Shield / Desert Storm conflict. He earned several medals before his honorable discharge. Kevin has worked for the United States Postal Service since 1993 where he has received numerous awards and recognition for service. He is currently working at the Bellmead Station Post Office. He is a member of the Postal Waco Area Diversity Group where he serves as president and treasurer. This group organizes events to highlight the diversity of the many different people in our community. Kevin moved to Bellmead in January of 1996. He is an active member of the Bellmead Lion's International Club serving to help those in need. He is also a member of the Bellmead Chamber of Commerce and the CRRC (Community Race Relations Coalition). He has been Vice President of the PTO (Parent - Teacher Organization) for the LaVega Primary School for 2004 - 2006 and was elected President of the PTO for the LaVega Elementary School in 2006. He served several years on the LaVega Parent - Teacher Advisory Committee, where they met several times a year to discuss and address different challenges to learning that our youths face in school. He served several years on Bellmead's Building Standards Committee. In 2006 at the Bellmead Cultural Festival he was honored with a Community Award for outstanding contributions in the community. In 2008 he was selected by the Bellmead City Council to fill a vacant seat on the council. He ran for the seat in May of 2009 and now continues to proudly serve as one of the leaders of the city. He has been appointed as a board member of the Bellmead Economic Development Corp. where he acts as Executive Director. He also serves on the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District Board. Kevin believes in open government and is willing to listen to the concerns of those he serves and tries to make a positive difference. He views himself as a public servant, acting on behalf of those who elected him, and is happy to serve.
